HISTORY

Hunters and harvesters in Europe began gathering wild grapes in 9000 B.C., and 4000BC grape cultivation and wine drinking had begun.  Texts in ancient Egyptian tombs prove that the Egyptians were using wine around 2600 B.C., and also developed the first pruning methods.  Royalty and priest drank wine, while the workers were given only beer.

The oldest bottle of wine in the world was found in Germany and dates back to 325 B.C.

Today there are over 60 species and 8000 varieties of grapes, making grape growing the largest industry in the world!
