Professional Presentations

Be sure to view the Score Sheet to see point values

The company that reviewed your promotional Web sites now wants your video team to decide which Web site made the best use of the digital video clip. The CEO requests a team presentation (using PowerPoint) of the best Web site created from your individual efforts. Your group’s presentation should be from 10-15 minutes long and all team members must participate in the presentation. Follow the format from your Web site design proposal, and your presentation should go well. As you prepare the presentation, remember to include:
  • Title slide with all group members’ names.
  • Major sections (introduction, body, and summary) presented.
  • Plan for approximately 10-15 PowerPoint slides in your slideshow.
  • A general description of the project (introduction).
  • The purpose of the video and Web site (body).
  • What you accomplished with the promotional Web site.
  • Describe the target audience.
  • Explain the graphics used in the site; why were they chosen?
  • How did you promote the site?
  • Describe the production process you followed (who did what?).
  • Show the video and Web site.
  • Summarize your team’s experience in developing and producing the project (summary).

Hints for producing an exceptional presentation:

  • All group members participate in the presentation
  • Provide handouts that compliment your presentation.
  • Use the 6x6 rule for all slides; No more than six lines/slide, No more than six words/line.
  • Project your voices, speak clearly, avoid jargon, and don’t stray off the topic.
  • PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!
Your product for this project will be the PowerPoint presentation (100 pts, Beginning on 11-30-04), which may be augmented by producing and distributing class handouts. The presentation will be evaluated by the instructor (50%), teaching assistant (25%), and selected peers from the class (25%).
