E-mail Lab

This lab allows you to demonstrate your electronic communications abilities, which are for successful completion of this course. First, an explanation for the necessity of using only NEO e-mail in this course. Using HOWDY assures that messages (and attachments) I send to you actually reach your inbox, regardless of the attachment size. Hotmail, AOL, Yahoo, and all the other free e-mail accounts you may be using cannot offer the same guarantee. A bigger issue is when the tables are turned. When you send me a message and/or attachment for this course that originates from one of the free e-mail programs, my departmental e-mail program will automatically delete your incoming message before I ever get a chance to see it. Why? It's all about protecting our systems against malicious viruses, worms, etc. Now you know.

Therefore, you can complete this simple lab by following the directions detailed below.

  1. Open the AGCJ 404 Data Form (hint: you may want to open a second browser first so you can continue to read these instructions while filling out the form).
  2. Fill out the form (please complete all fields).
  3. Save the form, preferably on your jump drive, and be sure to replace the original filename, "DataForm.doc," with a new name, such as "YourLastName.doc".
  4. Login to your HOWDY E-mail account.
  5. Compose a note to your Instructor and cc it to the teaching assistant.
  6. Don't forget to include the LAB name in the e-mail SUBJECT LINE.
  7. Attach the Data Form to the note.
  8. Send the message.
  9. Logout of HOWDY.
