Assume the Department Head in your major has approved the request you made in your memo. He/she asked you to follow-up the invite to the lead author from your journal reviews assignment to speak at the departmental seminar next semester.
  1. Obtain the name and address of the lead author from your research article. This may require additional research on your part (find his/her university/institution and other contact information).
  2. Write the letter using the correct format discussed in class, including:
    • Why he/she is being asked to speak to undergraduates in your department. Be clear about what you are asking him/her to present during the seminar.
    • Include specific details about the speaking engagement (when, where, etc.).
    • Provide travel details and follow-up information (include your contact information).
  3. Sign (use your full name, not your initials) your business letter.
  4. Fold your business letter properly and insert it into a correctly addressed (use US Postal standards), laser-printed envelope (no stamp needed).
  5. Submit the unsealed envelope (with folded business letter inside) to your instructor by the due date.
  6. Include the first page only from the journal article from which you are inviting the lead author.
