Did you know?...
- There are two different types of dairy cows used in the United States. They are Jersey cows and Holstein cows.
- Jersey cows' milk is much richer, but Holstein cows produce larger amounts of milk at one time than Jerseys do.
- Cows have no teeth on the top of their mouth! That means that they can't bite you!
- Unlike humans, cows do not have the ability to sweat! They have to drink lots of water to stay cool. In fact, they drink 25 to 50 gallons of water, that is about a bathtub full of water every day!
- Cows have to eat a lot to make the milk for us to drink. They eat about 90 pounds of food a day. To compare it to you, that would be about 210 potatoes! Wow!
- On average, cows produce 90 glasses of milk a day!
